Dr. Stack, Professor Emeritus at the University of California,
Berkeley, is a noted anthropologist, educator, and author. She
writes on urban and rural poverty, family policy, and race,
ethnicity and youth in the United States. Dr. Stack has been
honored across the nation for her contributions to the
anthropology of the U.S., scholarship on African American
kinship and political culture, and her critical interventions in
public policy-making about family and work.
